چکیده

Polyester resin plastination is a less expensive technique, resulting in high quality plastinates. The dissected poultry specimens were fixed with formaldehyde. Specimens were impregnated with resin, followed by curing resulted in good quality dry, odourless and solid specimens which can be used for teaching.

P96 Technique for Tissue Plastination in Preparing Long-Lasting Anatomical Specimens

Background: Plastination is a technique of long-term preservation of the natural tissues without the typical problems related to wet specimens. Plastinated specimens are durable, dry, and flexible. In this process, the water and fat in biological tissues are substituted by a curable polymeric resin, i.e., subsequently cured. In this study, a new unsaturated polyester resin (P96) was synthesized...

A New Method of Brain Plastination

Introduction: Plastination is a unique technique for preservation of biological specimens used for teaching purposes. The protocol of flexible sheet plastination includes fixation, slicing, dehydration, force impregnation, casting, and curing (Hajian, Rabiei, Fatollahpour & Esfandiary, 2008). The procedure is done by using P87 flexible unsaturated polyester resin and provides heavy, gross, frag...

Thermal and Mechanical Behavior of Hybrid Polymer Nanocomposite Reinforced with Graphene Nanoplatelets

In the present investigation, we successfully fabricate a hybrid polymer nanocomposite containing epoxy/polyester blend resin and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) by a novel technique. A high intensity ultrasonicator is used to obtain a homogeneous mixture of epoxy/polyester resin and graphene nanoplatelets. This mixture is then mixed with a hardener using a high-speed mechanical stirrer. The trap...

Plastination of Upper And Lower Limbs with Injection of Colored Polymer into the Arteries

Purpose: Plastination is a unique technique of tissue preservation developed by Dr Gunther von hagnes in Hidelberg, Germany in 1978. In this process water and lipids are replaced by curable polymers (silicon, polyester, epoxy) which are subsequently hardened, resulting in dry, odorless and durable specimens. The aim of this study was to prepare plastinated specimen of upper and lower limbs by i...

Flexural Behavior of Polyester Polymer Concrete Subjected to Different Chemicals

Polymer concrete (PC) is a composite material prepared by resin and aggregates. Advantages of polymer concretes include rapid curing at ambient temperatures, high flexural and compressive strengths, excellent chemical resistance and low permeability. In this research, a comparative study was performed on degradation of polyester resin concrete in different chemical solutions. Polymer concrete s...
